For our English-speaking surfers:

Important statement regarding this whole site - please read:

This site has as the first main goal: to get as most attention as possible for Sixpence None The Richer in German media (christian and secular) and to provide the small (but growing...) German fan base with all relevant information available. The second goal is: to make events / actions in doing special promotion for the band (for example: flyers, newsletter, volunteers, etc.). That means in some way also coordinating touring events and radio / television airplay and so on...

Note: the site serves for special purposes connected with the current situation in Germany. Of course our site does cover all German speaking parts of the world (Germany, Austria, Switzerland; also small parts of: Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein...).

We're not about offering this website (or parts of it) in English language because in that language there is already a wide range of websites and possibilities available for you. In most cases we only collected already existing information, translated it when necessary and offered it all together here. So you can find all that we have on some other places on the web, too - in your language! So make sure you check out our network-page, the band's official site and their cool label-page!

If you want to make some experiences with online translation you can try this very cool and useful online dictionary (German<->English!); also Babylon and Altavista offer some tools for you.

However, we still have some specials in English language for you:

Here's my (David Decker, Webmaster of this site) kind of Sixpence None The Richer story:

The first time I read their name was in a magazine of a christian music distributor in Germany. This was in 1994 when their debut album came to Europe. Then I noticed the group's name together with the famous Dutch Flevo Festival around 1994/95. And then in 1995 I discovered the group in all aspects. It came so: At first I got a job (and still have :) at a christian music retailer here. So I got in contact with Sixpence None The Richer's new German distributor - this was the time "This Beautiful Mess" came out. I read the album review and their short feature also explaining the name of the band in conjunction with C.S. Lewis. So we ordered their album and I gave it a first short listen at home. I was not so excited about it and almost threw it away. But after some weeks I was hanging around and somehow found that review again and listened again to this record. After hearing the whole album I got overwhelmed by it. The clever guitar pop and Leigh's voice fascinated me a lot. The first song I loved for its melody was "Circle of Error"; then I also loved "Angeltread", "Love, Salvation, the Fear of Death" and "Within a Room Somewhere". All in all I have no favorite songs from that CD - it's all damn good! In my opinion it's their best effort yet.
... so I collected all other Sixpence None The Richer stuff available until today.

In 1999 it was a great and pleasant experience to hear "Kiss Me" on my favorite radio station (secular) and then all over Germany. Man, was that cool: this former independent band was now in all the media and had finally full mainstream distribution. We never thought of things like that before with that band! Ok, there was Amy and Smitty and dc Talk before but they offered this typical pop-rock outfit for the mainstream. Sixpence None The Richer came up with something different!
What shall I say, hey, they entered the Top Ten and made it up to # 7 on the official German single charts with "Kiss Me" and # 4 on the official German airplay charts. - For our country this means a lot, really! Almost no one had known the band before this and the charts consisted of a lot other smash hits so they knocked out all the big names. A funny thing for me to saw that going on :-)  - Their selftitled album had it's peak position with # 57 on the official German album charts. Later in that year "There She Goes" followed - it was only a short time on the single charts (went straight into the Top 30!) but had huge success on the radio stations. In Austria and Switzerland the band also had a lot of media appearances during that year.
So I built this German Info-/Fan-Site for them, starting online June 10th in 1999. Last year [2000] in August I relaunched it and made all kinds of band stuff available - exclusively for all German-speaking people worldwide. It's all well prepared for another "battle" for the band when new material is coming out one day. My / our aim is to bring this band again in the media here, hopefully in the charts again... People need to know that there is something different out there - timeless, real and handmade music with an edge - in opposite of all that other plastic stuff on the charts (remember some cheesy girl-/boygroups or eurodance in its worst case ;)

Yeah, with all other fans I'm curious what Sixpence None The Richer and Squint have prepared for us in the very near future ;-)

God bless,
   Dave (01-16-2001)  [update 06-21-2001]
